Absolute Hobbyz The following press release is from Reds Racing: REDS Racing is proud to introduce the 721 Superveloce™ GEN5, the most refined evolution of the Superveloce platform. The GEN5 is the result of targeted development on internal fluid dynamics, crankshaft and cylinder timing, and the introduction of the new 9 mm carburetor, with a clear objective: increase power without increasing fuel consumption. Performance is higher, while fuel mileage remains exactly the same as the original Superveloce, a long-time benchmark for efficiency. GEN5 technical updates Optimized internal fluid dynamics Reworked internal flow paths improve air–fuel mixture quality and combustion stability. The result is smoother power delivery, faster throttle response, and extremely consistent performance over long runs. Revised crankshaft and cylinder timing Both crankshaft and port timing have been redesigned and optimized to: Increase mid and high-RPM performance Deliver stronger top-end power Maintain excellent drivability Keep fuel consumption unchanged compared to the original Superveloce More performance, same fuel mileage. New 9 mm carburetor The GEN5 introduces a new carburetor with 9 mm bore, designed to: Increase overall engine performance Make tuning easier and more stable Offer a wider and more forgiving carburetion window In practice, the engine is noticeably easier to set up and tune. Performance can be further optimized using larger venturi options, up to 8.5 or 9.0 mm, depending on track layout and conditions. One engine, two classes The 721 Superveloce GEN5 is designed to cover both Buggy and Truggy applications with a single engine platform, simplifying choices for racers competing in multiple classes. Two versions, optimized by region US 25–30% Nitro version: Optimized for high-nitro fuels and typical USA track conditions. A true USA-specific version, developed to extract maximum performance with higher nitro blends. EU 16% Nitro version: Optimized for 16% nitro fuel and European tracks, focusing on drivability, efficiency, and consistency under European racing conditions. Full DLC configuration: crankshaft and backplate The 721 Superveloce GEN5 returns to a full DLC setup, featuring the Black Diamond DLC crankshaft combined with a traditional DLC backplate. This solution guarantees excellent reliability, reduced friction, and more controlled costs, without compromising performance. The traditional DLC backplate has proven to be extremely robust and consistent in all racing conditions. The RTX backplate remains an excellent optional upgrade for racers looking for a different power delivery feel or further fine-tuning, depending on track layout and driving style. Optional components To keep the base engine focused and competition-ready: Airboost and RTX backplates are available as optional upgrades The 11-fin cooling head for high temperatures is also offered as an optional component This modular approach allows racers to fine-tune the engine configuration based on track layout, climate, and driving style. On-track performance The 721 Superveloce GEN5 delivers: Smoother and more controllable acceleration, thanks to improved torque delivery Stronger top-end speed with a wider usable powerband The same exceptional fuel economy the original Superveloce is known for Consistent and repeatable performance throughout long finals Small changes, big results The GEN5 philosophy is simple: more power, same consumption. An engine that is easier to tune, more versatile, and optimized for real racing conditions. A no-compromise engine, built for racers who demand maximum performance, reliability, and efficiency.
