Italy, Europe 2024 EFRA European 1/8th nitro buggy championship: Juan Carlos Canas takes the title juillet 29, 2024 by Chris Laisser un commentaire Juan Carlos Canas is the new European champion for 2024. This second title in a row was no easy task! With strong challengers, a demanding track and sometimes sweltering heat, it was a difficult journey. The change of tire brand to JConcepts was also a big gamble for the European champion. A must-have in the USA, JC is of course well known in Europe, but not widely used at high level. However, the American brand was to play a decisive role in winning the title, competing on equal terms with the best European brands. A well-tuned SWORKz car, which he knows inside out, and a perfect Reds engine completed the European champion package. Juan Carlos never looked back from the lead, but he had to deal with the return of drivers like Davide Ongaro and Bruno Coelho, which was made more difficult at the end of the race when the Spanish driver was on slick tires and therefore slower. Davide surprised everyone by stopping the race on lap 53, just as his strategy was starting to take shape and he was beginning to set a fast pace. Berkan Kilic was not to be spared and stopped a few laps later, as did former world champion Robert Batlle. The latter, however, would later set off again for the fun of it! Only 4s behind Juan Carlos, Bruno proves once again that he’s one of the best drivers in any class. His ability to switch from one car to another is just amazing! He is just a step in front of his team-mate David Ronnefalk, although he is a 1/8th off-road specialist. Ronnefalk did not disappoint, but was not really in a position to challenge for victory. However, XRAY has a lot to be proud of, with 3 cars in the final, making it the most represented brand.
