Adam Drake & Shin Adashi unveil new Mugen Seiki 1/10th 2WD buggy

Earlier this week we announced that Mugen Seiki would be making a comeback in the 1/10th off-road class with a new 2WD buggy. In the meantime, during the 4WD buggy part of the show, we saw designer Shin Adachi using a slightly modified TLR 22X-4, which suggests that, although still in the project stage, Mugen will probably get involved in the 4WD buggy class in the future.

Our friends on site gave us some background details on the 2WD buggy. There are 3 versions of the buggy, one based on TLR, one on Yokomo, which Shin knows well 😉 and another totally developed by Mugen. It appears that Mugen has opted to use its own buggy, and this was presented to our colleagues in attendance.

The front end is clearly highly influenced by TLR 2WD buggy. The rear end offers an interesting set-up, with a centrally-placed motor – a good thing. The central layout does not really innovate, with electronics and battery pack in the usual layout. Anyway, although this is a pre-production version, it suggests that the final product won’t be too far from this prototype.
