Russia 2022 MRC winter challenge – Report janvier 14, 2022 by Chris Laisser un commentaire At the beginning of the year the 2022 MRC winter challenge is traditionally held in Moscow, Russia. The event was held in the 1/10th buggy and short course truck classes and it attracted more than 170 entries from all over the country. As a major event, the race also became the second round of the popular 2021/2022 Russian national winter cup. The race was held in the very center of the Moscow capital, in a quite unique place, a night club. The astro turf track was measuring 25×16 meters. All classes saw were fierce battles for reaching the final, as well as for the victory. Andrey Torunov (Yokomo) was the man to beat in 2WD buggy as he set the overall TQ and brought home the win from Stepan Surovenkov (XRAY) in second and his team mate Tomophey Cherkasov (Yokomo) in third. XRAY racer Stepan Surovenkov took TQ and win in 4WD buggy. Mike Dvoinov (XRAY) came in second and Dmitry Malyshko (PRracing/Hobbywing/Sunpadow) rounded out the top 3. The popular and very competitive 17.5T stock 2WD buggy class, with 36 drivers, was dominated by Roman Larkin (XRAY/Insane RC/Yopta-Racing) who set the TQ and came out on top followed by Maxim Simanov (Team Associated) and Gosha Plamodyanov (Schumacher Racing) in 2nd and 3rd respectively. In 13.5T stock 4WD buggy it was Alex Shurmin (Team Associated) with the win from the TQ holder Nikita Litovkin (Schumacher Racing) in second and Andrey Fadeev (SWORKz) in third. Vladimir Shkolnik (Team Associated) set the TQ in the 40+ stock 2WD buggy however it was his team mate Gosha Zabrodin (Team Associated) who grab the win from Dmitry Kazennov (XRAY). Vladimir had to settle for third. Maxim Malyshko (PR Racing/Hobbywing/Ovonic) was in control of things in 2WD short course class as he took TQ and win from the Team Associated duo of Leonid Livanov and Vladimir Shkolnik. Alex Shurmin (Tekno RC) set the overall TQ and brought home the win from Vladimir Shkolnik (Tekno RC) in 2nd and Anton Savenkov (Tekno RC) in 3rd, a Tekno RC podium lock-out.
