Switzerland 2021 GenevaModelCars Series Rd3 – Report juillet 2, 2021 by Chris Leave a Comment The third round of the GenevaModelCars Series 2021 was held last weekend at the GEMC track in Meyrin, Geneva, Switzerland in perfect weather conditions. The two first rounds were cancelled due to Covid pandemic. 32 drivers attended the race held in three classes, Touring 13.5T boosted, FWD 17.5 zero timing and Formula 21.5T zero timing. The GenevaModelCars track is a great venue with very smooth tarmac and a modular layout only dedicated to electric On-road classes. The layout chosen for this round was not fast, but very technical. The Touring 13.5T boosted class was run with HUDY A1-36 spec tires and without tire additive. Bastien De Marco (Awesomatix) secured the pole position followed by Paul Franceschi (XRAY) and Sébastien Leuenberger (Mugen Seiki). After three exciting A-mains, Bastien took the win in front of Alexis Banderier (Awesomatix) in 2nd and Paul in 3rd. The Formula class was run with Volante tires also without tire additive. Daniel Ghirlanda (Gonzo) set the pole position followed by Sylvio Kiesewetter (XRAY) and José Arza (Carisma). Daniel brought home the win in front of Sylvio in second and Alex Carusi (XRAY) in third. The FWD class, run with HUDY A1-36 spec tires and without tire additive saw Vincent Cavard (MST) taking the TQ followed by Michael Hangartner (XRAY) and Jonathan Porta (MST). After three bumper-to-bumper finals with multiple overtaking, Vincent came out on top followed by Jonathan and Michael in 2nd and 3rd respectively. In the supporting Rookie class, Gian Pinelli took the win in the Touring class in front of Romain Dupont and his dad Pierre-Yves, while Antoine Dubois won Formula. The title of “Rookie of the day” went to a young and promising driver, Leandra Pinelli, who ran in FWD.
