Italy XRS On-road Italy report septembre 16, 2020 by Chris Leave a Comment The XRAY Racing Series Italy was held at the marvelous facilities of Club Automodellistico 5 Colli in Gubbio, Perugia. The race saw 110 entries in 6 different classes. In the TC Modified class, it was the current World Champion Bruno Coelho (XRAY/Hobbywing/Sunpadow) who lead the way, in front of his teammates Alexander Hagberg (XRAY/Hobbywing/Hot Race Tyres), and Alessio Menicucci (XRAY). After the triple A-finals, B.Coelho came out on top, followed by A.Hagberg in second while Alessio Mancini (XRAY) moved up to 3rd, and snatched a podium spot from A.Menicucci. The Modified Touring class was a blast to watch, with the cars reaching 125 km/h on the long Gubbio straight. The Stock Touring class was a close affair. Nico Catelani (XRAY) took the TQ spot, but he had to work hard to keep a hard charging Alexandre Duchet (XRAY) behind him in the finals. Eventually, N.Catelani was able to win two finals out of 3, which awarded him the win. French racer A.Duchet came in 2nd and Roberto Fabiano (XRAY) rounded out the podium, in a strong 3rd. The heavily contested 1/8th Nitro class saw Jonathan Gandin (XRAY) taking the TQ. Roberto De Cesare (Mugen Seiki/Picco/Meccafuel) took an early lead in the 30-minute long final however J.Gandin came out on top, after a strong driving and strategic performance in the final. Luca Romagnoli (Shepherd/Picco/Energy Fuels/hot Race Tires) eventually finished on the runner-up spot, with R.De Cesare in 3rd. The growing 1/8th EP Pan car category saw a dominating performance from J.Gandin, who took the TQ and win, awarding him his 2nd win of the weekend. Mirko Maggini and Arturo Tozzi completed the top 3 result. In the the 1/10th Nitro class, a lot of drama unfolded already from the start of the race. The pole sitter, Alessio Agostinelli (XRAY) flamed out on the starting line. A few crashes and technical problems affected other drivers in the field, which meant that A.Agostinelli soon could fight his way back to the top. Mustafa Alp (XRAY) secured a strong 2nd place, and Alessandro Occhipinti (XRAY) rounded out an all XRAY podium, in 3rd.
