Australia XRS Australia Rd2 report mai 16, 2019 by Chris Leave a Comment This past weekend was held the second round of the XRAY Racing Series at the Kamah track in Canberra. Unfortunately the 2019 edition of the clubs round was to end in the same way as 2018… rain. The weather looks great at the start of the day, unfortunately as the progressed showers threatened, finally arriving just as we started the finals. With the race meeting cancelled, the organizers declared the results on the three rounds of completed qualifying. Two new classes were added, the Formula TT and 1/12th Stock. Racing in all classes was close with only a few seconds separating the top three drivers in most classes. Alex Ilievski (Yokomo) set his fastest time in round three to take the overall win in the 13.5T Stock class while his teammate Nathan Tanti (Yokomo) posted his quickest time in round two allowing him to secure second place from an inconsistent Mark Wallin (XRAY) who finished third. Ray Zarb (XRAY) posted the quickest times in the second and third rounds of the 21.5 Stock class granting him the win Gerard Elias managed to post his fastest time in round three to take second place overall just 2 seconds behind R.Zarb while Phillip Merrick (XRAY) finished in third place just two seconds behind G.Elias. Attracting a ‘whose who’ of the local RC scene the pace in the 1/12th Stock class was close and fast. Multiple Australian 13.5T Champion A.Ilievski (Yokomo) dominated by winning all three rounds of qualifying to secure the win in front of the XRAY duo of Mark Wallin in second and Dan Maher in third. In the Formula TT class, Sydney sider Andrew Curless stamped is authority on the class with a win in round one that was fast enough to take TQ. Local TT specialist Daniel Hamers piloted his Truck to second place while Dean Kaufman rounded out the podium in third place.
